Spitting In Public Places Band In Assam's Dhubri, Violators To Be Fined Rupees 1000
GUWAHATI: Spitting in public places has been banned by the Dhubri district administration to prevent the spread of COVID-19 cases in the district.
The district administration has further decided to penalize those not wearing masks and for not following the ban on spitting in public places.
The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson of DDMA (Dhubri District Disaster Management Authority) has issued an order stating the ban on spitting in public places, wearing masks as mandatory from now on and imposed other restrictions in view of the spike in COVID-19 cases.
The orders read that the covid infection has adversely affected the region and posed a great challenge to the entire community therefore people who are not completely vaccinated need to take more precautions considering the present situation.
In view of paying special consideration to the new covid variant Omicron, wearing a mask by each and every individual has been made mandatory in the Dhubri district.
The order stated that any individual caught without a mask and spitting in public will be charged with a fine of Rupees 1000.
The penalty of Rupees 1000 can be imposed by police officials, Magistrate, Enforcement wing of the District Transport and District Disaster Management Authorities reads the order.
The district administration has also directed all the adult people without both doses of covid vaccine that they must remain at their respective homes and avoid visiting any public places including functions, scared places, markets and other gatherings.
Only people with full vaccination and people not due for 2nd dose as per health protocols will be permitted in public places that hold big gatherings of people such as Bars, Hotels, weekly markets, Restaurants, Sabzi Mandi, Fitness Centres, Cinema Halls, Gyms, Shopping Complexes and others.
The concerned Circle Officers will be keeping a strict vigil over the restrictions imposed and will ensure that necessary measures are followed to spread awareness among the people regarding covid protocols.
Any individual violating the given measures will be declared as liable to be prosecuted according to the provisions under Section 60 and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
Apart from these, the order states that people violating the norms will have to face legal consequences under the Indian Penal Code Section 186 and other legal provisions.
